When a rock is held above the ground, we say it has some potential energy. When we let it go, it fal?

A. although yes, some energy is converted into heat and sound, when you drop a rock onto the ground you hear a slight thud. You can't even feel the heat. That is because it transferred some of the energy into the ground, which then moves the earth (very) slightly off its orbit. Think of dropping it on your hand; you hear it hit, but mainly you feel it landing on your hand because the energy is transferred into your hand.
